Why are these elderly widows smiling? Because despite their suffering they receive the help they need.

Mission San Pedro (MSP) supports 30 poor, indigenous Maya widows in the village of San Pedro la Laguna, Guatemala—through clean-water, nutritional support, and practical help.

WHAT WE DO

CLEAN WATER

PROTECTION

In homes once plagued by chronic water-borne illness, we provide water filters and replacements as needed. Clean water changes everything.

MONTHLY FOOD SUPPORT

Each month, MSP helps ensure that 30 widows receive nutritional essentials—indigenous staples such as beans and corn, plus eggs and other key foods, and seasonal fresh vegetables and fruit.

PRACTICAL CARE

IN HARD MOMENTS

When urgent needs arise, MSP helps in concrete ways—roof repairs, medical emergencies, and funeral expenses—offered quietly and respectfully.

A Mission of Continuity

Mission San Pedro began in June 2013 and has sustained a consistent commitment to 30 widows ever since.

In 2025, MSP entered a transition in leadership. The mission continues—locally rooted, relationship-based, and carried forward with renewed clarity and accountability.

Meet Petronila ...

Petronila is one of the widows MSP has known since the earliest days. Her face tells the story of endurance: a life shaped by hardship, carried with quiet strength. MSP exists so that women like Petronila are not left to hunger, illness, and isolation in old age.

A message from David Roth

Mission San Pedro is built on relationship.

It began with a small act of care in June 2013 and grew into a steady commitment to 30 widows. Many people have carried this work—especially Asha, whose leadership and fundraising devotion kept MSP alive for years. In late 2025, MSP faced a moment of uncertainty.

I returned to Guatemala, met again with the widows and our local team, and made a commitment: there will be no break in monthly support while we build the next phase carefully and transparently.

If you have supported MSP in the past, welcome home.

If you are new, thank you for seeing these women.

Your care—given quietly, steadily, and respectfully—makes a real difference.
